BREAKING: The Indian Air Force has just conducted its longest range BrahMos strike mission. A Su-30MKI took off from a Punjab air base, refuelled mid-air and struck a ship target 4,000 km away deep in the Indian Ocean. Target destroyed. (File image). @IndiaToday
The test firing drill today involved a Su-30 MKI from the Thanjavur-based Tigersharks squadron. A couple of the jets have been flying in the north since fleet clearance was received in June this year: https://www.livefistdefence.com/2020/06/amidst-border-bloodshed-air-launched-brahmos-cleared-for-combat.html">https://www.livefistdefence.com/2020/06/a...
Guessing from some responses that I need to spell this out a little -- 4,000 km was the distance between the air base in Punjab and the ship target in the Indian Ocean. The BrahMos was fired at its standard range of about 300 km. Mid-air refuels in between :)
