/ What @theofficetv has taught me about work and business, a thread
/ Avoid working in a dying industry. No matter how much you put in, market forces will dominate trajectory. Even as top salesman, Dwight never got more credit than a second plaque
/ Work life balance. No one will tell you to stop working after 6pm. It’s on you to set your own boundaries and avoid burnout. This will ultimately earn you more respect in the long run. Take a page out of Stanley’s book. The man has never worked a wink past 5 o’clock
/ Don’t be an idiot. All jokes aside, this is a big one. An ounce of common sense can go miles. Take the occasional honest pause to assess what you’re really doing to approach a problem
/ You will not be friends with every coworker. This is a fact. Stay polite and cordial. All working relationships can at least be pleasant
/ Have fun with it. There’s enough time spent taking ourselves seriously. Humor and amusement are an essential reprieve. Good moods ➡️ Productivity boosted
/ Experience is the best teacher. You’ll never truly learn a skill until you get out there and do it. Get started with small opportunities, whether solicited or not. With enough practice, it might become what you’re famous for
