Dark past and winding path...

This will be one hell of a thread! #ArtistOnTwitter
The early years!

Despite all the color here in the overview, 99% of all my drawings were black and white, because well, Manga.

Who else started out with that? :D

Fun hobby during my late teen years, and made some lifelong friends at book fairs and through self-publishing!
Hundreds of comic pages, I don't even know.

My style slowly become more minimalist. I loved working with negative space and coming up with page layouts!
At the very same time, I got serious enough about art to switch from a science track to scientific illustration for my Bachelor's.

Lots of vectors, 3D modeling, but also classical drawing and ink stippling.
Juggled Science Visualization and manga publications for a couple years, which was stressful, not ideal, but also so much fun!

I feel like the two balanced each other well??

First professional publication happened around there, too! 180 more manga pages...
My first two years in Korea were intense!

I felt a bit overwhelmed by everything, since two more comic books meant lots of alone time spent drawing - but I also wanted to get to know the country, be social, study...

Super in love with inked details!
TOTAL STYLE SHIFT 😂

After the breakneck speed of the previous years, I wanted to take it slow for a bit.

Started an online shop, worked with Korean companies, for branding/marketing, and as a storyboard artist because 💰

Finally some time to work with watercolors!
Slowly felt energized enough to get back into some personal work instead of freelance-only.

Experimented with a watercolor webcomic, illustrated for an art book, for picture books, and taught art classes to both kids and adults. 🎹
2020 happened and I stopped working so much for branding/storyboarding as a freelancer, and took some time to actually ~practice~ and explore new directions!

Really into fantasy art (if only I still had that Gandalf drawing from 2004 for comparison) and gouache!

Here we are! :D
