im about to write an essay about david 7 one of these days
no like do you. do you really properly understand how badass the "screw the board!" scene was. like do you actually.
david has been alive for about... 10 weeks. and in that time they've met very few people. and of those few people, absolutely none are properly on their side. they've been shown again and again that they are expendable and that they are essentially MADE to be killed
and they've rejected ALL of that. they've rejected the idea of impermanence, they're canoncially nonbinary, they sit in their room all day asking questions and coming up with plans and FIGHTING every day to survive only to end up just breaking even most of the time
so. ten weeks of this. ten weeks of the person they trust most out of a bunch of people they don't at ALL trust, trying to get them killed. ten weeks of being told they're overreacting for trying to live. ten weeks of hitting the ground running with every new assignment,
and how does it all end? with a bunch of GIANT guns trained on them and trexel, and them GOADING the guns into shooting them, and yelling "screw the board!" because david is ONLY willing to die if it gets them answers, which is so!! interesting!!!!
not just that, but..... them doing that. knowing no one is on their side. knowing it's just them, a nonbinary nonhuman, against an entire space station full of people that want them dead. and they still faced a giant gun and DARED it to shoot them for speaking out. ICON.
and they survived it! and that proved to them what they already knew- they may be a clone but it is NOT their destiny to die, not here! they really said if i'm gonna go out i'm gonna do so the way i came in- slimy, confused, and by myself!
