This Wizkid and Burna's collab is how it should be. Next, we want to see a Wiz/David, Burna/David, a trio or what ever permutation or combination these three can produce. It's pivotal for this Afrobeats culture if we're to go next level.
Global superstars in other climes collaborate together, I don't know why it's so difficult in Africa and yet we want to advance Afrobeats. In the US, you see their heavy weights on a single track. Take for instance, Rich gang - Tapout. It's got Nicki, Lil Wayne, Future, Birdman
Yunno, the biggest names. Same as the carribean folks. But here, it almost has to be a Superstar and a class down. Whether we like it or not, there are people in different parts of the world who know Burna and they've never heard a Davido or Wizzy. Same for Wizzy, David.
The catalyst that'll fasten things up, fill these gaps and elevate the culture globally is collaboration. Mind you, these three guys already a decade into their stellar careers. Wiz is 30 already, Burna, a year to, David is almost there. They've done it all.
When it was like Wiz and David were running the show, they were already bigger than the genre. People knew Wiz, knew David but they never heard of Afrobeats. They just termed it "Nigerian music"
A decade into it now, they shouldn't be trying to prove anything. Individualistic glory would seem less cogent than glorify the Afrobeats culture at this point. No one is trying to be the new kid killing everything. They've done it all. At this point, beefs should be squashed
, if there's any existing. Y'all are legends already. Time to make legendary moves as brothers. It's the three of you, if we're going to fill in these global spaces with our music. @JoeyAkan @AsaAsika @bizzleosikoya @DONJAZZY @OvieO @DJ_TUNEZ @TheNamix
