09:48 - I’m at the Lagos State #EndSARS Judicial Panel of Enquiry sitting.

First observations:

1. Fewer seats in the room; more social distancing.

2. The cut and join banner has been improved on.

3. There’s an overflow space outside.

Hoping the panel will be on time. https://twitter.com/editieffiong/status/1321018409182760960
10:00 - the socially distanced hall is pretty much full (but for the reserved seats which were missing on Day 1).

Panel isn’t here yet.
10:08 Looks like the panel is in the panel room. Someone has come to ask if there’s a rep from LCC.

There is. (The gentleman in gray). Looks like the #LekkiMassacre will be discussed. Buckle up folks.
10:29 Still no sign of the panel. But we’ve been otherwise entertained by a gentleman, Gbolahan Bakare, of Vendors for Positive Change Initiaive

Mr. Bakare has submitted a petition asking for an investigation into fake news, naming @dj_switchaholic and @falzthebahdguy
Mr Bakare obviously didn’t come expecting hard questions. Pressed on the fact that the Lagos State and other arms of the FG have made several false statements on Social Media since The #LekkiMassacre, he admits the government gave fake news.
10:50 The panel is out. 50 minutes late, but much earlier than the first sitting.

A certain game console has made an appearance.
10:56 The representative of LCC has already been sworn in. There was a lot of consultation with this rep by a rep of the panel. It seems LCC is today’s priority.

LCC rep confirms they have footage of #LekkiMassacre, but also alludes to power challenges.
The Lagos State government has also sent a 4-person legal team. Not sure why they’re here, but we will see.
LCC has already applied for adjournment, but the Chair has stated the panel has a limited time to deliberate.

The panel is now deliberating. The youth reps have consulted the Chair twice.
The LCC are saying they don’t have their preferred counsel and asking for an adjournment. A bit of a sorry joke.

The panel has now decided to visit the tollgate, so everyone is heading out to the tollgate.
A bit of aluta theatre outside, as a group wearing red sashes unveils a banner stating the governor @jidesanwoolu has no right to setup the panel in the first place.

The sash wearing gentleman did attend the first session without any drama.
11:53 At the tollgate, LCC MD Is showing damage. There is a camera up on that mast that should have footage, but with a rather convenient caveat (if the network worked).

He confirms it stopped working when the property was burned.

When the place was burned, he can’t say.
The camera up there might hold important footage, but LCC can’t say when it last recorded.

However, the toll plaza was pretty much intact as of when the shooting started.
12:11 we found the first bullet casing. Followed shortly by another, right beside those distinguished shoes in the frame.
There are comments here that it seems the people who burned the toll gate knew where to go and what to burn.

Everything electrical or electronic was burned or broken.

Which of course begs the question - how did @tundefashola find the one good camera?
A little @tundefashola cosplay for your viewing pleasure.
For all the damage sustained by the toll plaza, the billboards somehow escaped.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego no do pass this one.
Throughout the inspection, it was very glaring the LCC was only concerned about property damage.

Hardly a mention of the shooting that happened. They’ve also been hazy about the timing of the shoot relative to the power shutdown.
12:45 We are back at the panel sitting (I had to steal my old seat back from a nice gentleman. I apologise).

12:51 Panel has returned to the room.
Looks like the session is being adjourned today until (maybe tomorrow) when the LCC gets their preferred counsel.

LCC says they can’t produce counsel tomorrow.

LASG counsel requests LCC footage be admitted as evidence today. Bit of drama.
12:56 Chair announced adjournment for 11AM, Tuesday.

Police had representation and have called the panel back to the issue of Mr. Agu (a petitioner from Monday).

Says the vehicle purported to have been stolen was given to his boss to his boss.

Panel says come on Tuesday.
