I still hear people use the term “serious violence”. Does that mean we have less serious violence? All violence is serious. Whether through it’s impact on a person or the potential for it to shift to another form. Words often lead to use of weapons. 1/2
Violence is more about behaviours and attitudes than the act itself. When we include insults, put downs, or control etc in our definition we acknowledge the impact on victims but we also present ways to stop violence moving to something else. Where on the continuum do we act? 2/2
