the double standards of kpop :: an informative thread
๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—”๐—— ::
in no way am i bashing boy groups nor girl groups. this thread is just to point out how men and women are being treated differently in the industry. feel free to leave your opinions below! and lets start!
the meaning of double standards is a rule of principle which is unfairly applied in different ways to different people or groups as defined by the dictionary. for example, in the kpop industry.
well, let me explain. in the industry, we see that majority of female groups has been hated way more than boy groups. for example, twice's signal's percentage of dislikes is 15.4% while boy group's have lesser dislikes.

whenever a boy group member wears revealing clothes or shows his abs, the fans will praise him. however whenever a girl group member shows off very little skin, everyone will start slut shaming.
other than that, we all know about resting bitch faces right? let's take jimin of bts for example. whenever he rests his face, fans will compliment him for looking manly. however, jennie of blackpink has a natural rbf, and fans would bash her for looking bitchy and rude.
another example is that female idols receive more criticism for their weight and image than male idols. gfriend's umji has been one of the targets before. it is absolutely disgusting. let them be who they are.
ryujin of itzy has spoken out about the double standards of kpop too. she dislikes being compared to boy groups when being complimented. some itzy "fans" once complimented itzy for being "too cool to be a girl group" and "their performances seem too difficult for a girl group".
seriously? "too cool to be a girl group"? please. women in the kpop industry are constantly being looked down on and that is not fair. we need equality. i want both women and men to have the same treatment.
to end this thread off, if you still look down on women, go get a life. if you had never looked down on them, i stan you. women have the same power as men and should literally have the same treatment as men.
