also short of actually being Touched By An Angel or other Actually Christian Media this show has the biggest case of Forgiveness Culture Poisoning I've ever seen

literally everyone is always shaming everyone else about not being forgiving enough

oh hang on Burnham is actually, literally being Touched By An Angel now

I think I hate everything about this show other than the casting

Oh, cool, in addition to radiation torture this episode we also get a needle to the eye

I didn't realize this was American Horror Story

I thought it was Star Trek

like there are a lot of amazing actors here giving 150% but holy shit the writing is bad and the whole thing is just SADISTIC

which, again, is not a word I want to have to apply to Star Trek

I hope Max fucking appreciates that I am slogging through this so we can watch the season with the Maine Coon together because normally I give a series exactly ONE episode with torture before I ditch its gross, puerile ass

actually fuck it, I'll just read summaries of the rest of the S2 episodes and just start S3

Also, while we're at it, I hate everything about this series' take on the Klingons EXCEPT their architecture.

And, like, look, I'm not a ST diehard. I've always liked the franchise in theory far more than I've liked it in practice. And for a long time I HATED the Klingons

It was like, as far as I can tell, this whole culture is just Toxic Masculinity, but a whole EMPIRE

but they finally won me over in DS9

I was like, oh, they may be short-tempered and think they can resolve everything by violence and be very emotionally fragile, but they're also incredibly emotionally *generous*

the way they shout their names and include "Dax the Trill!" <3

But I think what it took me a long time to see and appreciate was their *playfulness.*

And, like, all of that is completely gone in Discovery. These Klingons are like the ugliest stereotypes of Arabs and Africans rolled into one, with zero charm
