I can tell you what this is about.

There are several reasons to invoke the Emergency Act federally currently looming.

*Covid second wave is much worse than the first wave. The capacity to logistically manage will revolve around sharing resources and central coordination. https://twitter.com/ogeorge1/status/1321990146401701893
*The US election is in 5 days. Win or lose the next 3 months will be very politically unstable. There is much reason and evidence that violence will erupt and the winner won’t be determined for weeks, if not months. That situation is a threat to Canada’s National security.
*Securing the border with the US may become a necessity. It’s a federal responsibility, but a couple premiers have indicated opening the border should be a regional decision. One of several challenges to federal purview by conservative premiers.
*Abolishing herd immunity as a viable COVid strategy would require the Emergency Act to be invoked. Several conservative premiers have invested in implementing the herd immunity strategy in Canada. Reduced testing, open economy, failure to enforce mask protocol. QC, ON, AB.
The use of herd immunity is a threat to the health and safety of the entire nation. The population of Canada is about 38M people. So, if 27M of them are being subjected to a herd immunity strategy, it puts every citizen at risk, literally.
It’s abundantly clear Blanchett is warning PM Trudeau to not invoke the Emergencies Act. By demanding an apology for invoking of War Measures Act (WMA) 50 years ago, Blanchett is narratively framing its use as inappropriate & overreach in political power. It’s a preemptive slap.
Every indication in historical contemporaneous documentation indicates WMA was requested by the Quebec provincial government and helpful to quell the violent insurgents who were terrorizing Quebec politicians and the public. Abductions, murder and bombings were halted.
Quebec WAS temporarily inconvenienced by police/military guards in the street to protect citizens from violent extremist terrorists intent on secession from Canada. At the request of the mayor of Montreal and the premier of Quebec.
The decision was and remains controversial.

But radicalized extremists were threatening Quebec and its citizens. People were kidnapped and killed and 950 bombings and multiple bank robberies were excessive violence that was becoming normalized.
It’s interesting to note who criticized the decision to invoke WMA contemporaneously. NDP and Quebec sovereignists. Socialists, being the original supporters of anarchy and supporters of Quebec’s secession from Canada.

Sound familiar?
Suspending civil liberties is anti-democratic and contrary to individual freedom. But holding an entire province hostage to violent demands, bombings, kidnapping and murder is also an infringement on freedom. IMO PM Pierre Trudeau made the correct call.
The vast majority of Quebecers, Francophone & Anglophone agreed the WMA was a necessary & welcome response. Anarchy is not a “natural” state of existence in society.

The whole globe will soon witness anarchy in the US. It’s terrifying to consider it may find support in Canada.
Blanchett attempting to prohibit invoking the Emergencies Act is support for anarchy in Canada.

Watch who supports his demand for an apology. They support anarchy and disengagement of federal government from national security responsibility. The question is why?
Global politics has devolved into power struggles once again. We’ve been on this path as a nation before. But it was so long ago, most are unaware.

History teaches us valuable lessons and informs us with 20/20 vision of what works and what doesn’t.
Socialists and radical populists have teamed up before to try to destroy Canada. Called the Great Darkness, the Quebec Duplessis era emerged from the global autocratic surge during the Great Depression and WW2.
Alberta suffered similarly when Social Credit took power in 1935. Who were the Social Credit? Defectors from progressive wing of Liberals and social Conservatives who formed the party. Other radical progressive & socialist defectors joined the CCF.
Observe the amount of time Duplessis’ Union Nationale and Aberhart/Manning’s Social Credit parties ruled those respective governments as one party jurisdictions. Eighteen years in Quebec, & 36 years in Alberta. This is a repeat of populist politics of the pre WW2 era.
Some of the same political strategies are being made. Splintering of left wing by radical ginger group political parties. An alliance between far left and radical right. Resulting in an extended loss of freedoms, social conservatism and promotion of corporate property rights.
This should sound very familiar. We’ve walked this path before.

When socialists ally with radical populists, they jointly advocate for anarchy. The resulting void in leadership is filled by radical extremists who reshape society to their exclusive benefit at others expense.
Let’s hope Canadians are able to learn from the past.

If we choose to ignore lessons already learned the hard way, we will elect radical populists who rule vs govern using fascist policies for however long it takes to oust them from power.
I hope Canadians observe this rhyming with Canada’s past. Although provincial conservative majorities won by splitting the left into factions in QC, ON, MB, SK, AB & NB make that hope a faint one.
Support the Emergencies Act if it is invoked. Contemporary circumstances warrant a coordinated and logistical response. It’s not a power grab. It’s defence of Canadian national security, our collective public health & rejection of anarchy promoted by fringe ginger group radicals.
