what if sex is, for some people, a powerful embodied experience that can serve as a metaphor for divine/human encounter, and in fact OFTEN does in the Bible and Christian tradition
and sure, it would not be ethical for God to like show up an try to fuck humans. but that is not what theologians or biblical authors or poets or ancient hymn writers or mystics are saying.
and you don't have to like sex as a metaphor for encounter with the divine! and people who use these metaphors and ALL metaphors ought to use them with care and do no harm! but they are metaphors.
and idk just, folks tweeting about women theologians being like "eww cringe! sex! gross!" will never not be sexist in my mind.
Anyway, many many metaphors for God based in human experience would be unethical/heretical if taken literally. But metaphors are about both describing and admitting the limits of human language. It is not inherently gross or bad for sexuality to be one of those metaphors.
Metaphors for God are humans grasping at straws, drawing on both mundane experience and moments of transcendence (sex can be both!) for something that is NOT God but maybe, in some small way, is "like" God
