Something I get a lot is this presumption that as a Christian, I must dislike atheists, because I'm apparently bound by some kind of group-think that requires me to think less of those around me that don't share my views.

My life would certainly be easier if this were the case..
but the issue is actually quite the opposite: I struggle more with people within my own cohort than I do with those beyond its "confines", and I use "confines" in inverted commas because the concept is exclusive bullshit that a lot of us haven't moved past yet.

What I do find...
frustrating is the more militant or overly enthusiastic members of either group both share a very particular trait where they are right and everyone who doesn't agree with them is wrong, leaving no room for discussion or even civility to exist in the space between...
and this is just exhausting because, if approached in such a manner, it means beginning a discussion on the defensive while having zero desire or interest in meeting that conversational energy with what the other is expecting.

Of course, I get the same thing from other...
Christians when they ask why I support things like marriage equality, LGBT+ rights and inclusion in religious spaces, abortion, etc.

The "rogue" part of "rogue Christian" in my bio is particularly important, as I don't adhere to a lot of the institutional dogma that...
surrounds a large part of the Christian cohort, while subtracting a great deal from what we're "supposed" to be doing as Christians (ie: not being judgemental assholes, being accepting and graceful, and alleviating the suffering and hardship of those around us)...
Maybe Christi-Anarchist is a better descriptor?

But the atheist thing gets me every time, partly because I was married to one, so obviously I don't have the sort of issue I'm perhaps expected to 🤔
Yes, I'm babbling away because I have to have a bone scan on Monday and I'm extremely needle-phobic and don't like this sort of thing. I'll just be over in my corner stewing.
