so as requested my thoughts on changes a thread
so when first looking at the lyrics it gave me the sense of it being a coming of age song, specifically when you come from a small town being naive to the cold cruel world. to be more specific when you become famous and everyone you grew up with is free to be whatever+
and whoever they want to be. while fame keeps you locked away because once you have it you can’t be normal anymore. you notice that the place you grew to love isn’t big enough for you and that you can’t have what they have.
when listened to the song it hit me that it felt so familiar story wise, because not only does it have parallels to changes by blackbear. but it also reminded me of y&b. SPOILERS FOR Y&B AHEAD+
once harry opened up to louis about him being famous, louis knew that at some point he had to leave. as they got closer louis always told himself not to talk about it because he knew that harry was too big to stay here and that he didn’t belong. he couldn’t let himself+
want him to stay because many people need him and care about him. while harry knew he didn’t belong, not where he grew up, or in la. they were eachothers home. back to what i interpreted the song as is, coming from a small town falling in love+
not knowing where things are going to take you. until one day things change, and you try to hold on to what you were. while the other person grows and changes around you. so you decide that it doesn’t matter weather things change or not because home and peace is only with them.
