1. lurking since 2004/2005, but only actively participating since 2013/2014. I was in denial about things for a long time after Some Awful website convinced me that I should keep things hidden and that my life would be ruined if anyone ever found out about things
(this in part is probably part of why I’m such an open book now - life is too short for hiding away like that. saying that, this attitude did at least mean no one could take advantage of me during my teens, because I literally didn’t speak to anyone in the fandom)
2. the same way i believe togepi did - super smash bros. melee’s debug + mushroom stacker codes caused me to realise I was into macro, & things went from there

me giving that friend of a friend a follow, and it turned out they’d written some neat essays about furry and identity, and suddenly it clicked that I didn’t need to hide like I had been doing, and I shouldn’t pay any attention to SA’s opinions)
3. the creativity, i love that i can open twitter (or previously tumblr) and see a whole lot of rad things and hopefully get them more attention
4. a mewtwo, still in use over on an alternate account . dex is technically their trainer, though they mostly lead separate lives at this point - there is a brainwave link in the event of dex being in mortal danger
(like any cat, they do occasionally leave presents to find, they just tend to be nano things that are assuredly returned safe and sound after they’ve had their fun. it’s hard to say they’ve not been a bad influence, dex was originally meant to be more grounded as a character)
5. originally: an actor in a series of moderately popular 16-bit games, that got a job in IT after the residuals dried up

6. i knew dragon was the only choice, but i’ve forgotten where the fluffy choice came from - perhaps it was for huggability, perhaps it was because my IRL body is pretty fuzzy, perhaps it’s because i was thinking of certain friends exploring a forest of fluff
a whole lot of design choices came from game logic and what i now recognise as aptophilia - the heart tail for example came from dynamite headdy’s spotlight HP display as well as the heart tattoo from trespasser, and also the ability to do other things with it
7. a lot of initial thoughts were IRL me, but a few years older - same height (minus horns)+weight by default*, a little further on in their job, a little further in transitioning (originally because their version of the NHS didn’t gatekeep,now because Saints Row 2 gender slider)
* there’s only a few pieces of art i have that depict something closer to my IRL build, if I do get a ref sheet update at some point that’s on the list
