This is pretty much where I'm at.

In particular, moral purity on abortion seems no more possible to me than moral purity on racism, sexism, poverty, asylum seekers, and other assaults on the dignity of the image of God in human beings. https://twitter.com/JohnFea1/status/1321981560313303040
For some people, this is a motive to vote third-party or to abstain altogether. I can understand this as a faithful option that some will choose.

I think stepping out of the system is what Trump wants, though: it undermines the legitimacy of democratic institutions.
I don't think third-party voting at this point in the election is good stewardship of my political influence. YMMV.

In any case, there is no party that would pass my moral purity test (no, not even the ASP; questionable history aside, their education plank is a Mess™️).
I don't need to over-philosophize: this election is practically a choice between two tickets.

I can reject them both and punish them equally.

But they're not equally wrong.
One ticket demonstrates inconsistent application of the principle of honoring human dignity. The oversight is enormous.

But if seminaries are going to keep the names of enslavers on the buildings, evangelicals clearly understand how to make this compromise. 🤨
One ticket is straight-up working in the direction of Might Makes Right, denying the rule of law and undermining every government institution it can get its hands on.

It's an assault on government itself, a denial of what God designed government to be.
These are not equivalent errors. One is manifestly more serious, more fundamental, more anti-Gospel and anti- human flourishing.

I will vote for the major ticket that gets us closest. I will vote for the one that seeks my neighbor's welfare, not its own dominance.
