It’s been interesting to see how much of an impact peer pressure and herd mentality has on a student’s academics. And I’m not talking peer pressure to do drugs and have sex. I’m talking about the peer pressure that makes students better students.
Remember that time you finished a math test, looked around the room to see everyone using a protractor, had a moment of panic and started checking you work cause you didn’t use one the whole test
Remember that one time in language arts class when you zoned out and then snapped out of it because you heard everyone getting up to start working in groups?
Remember that time in science when you were goofing off during lab and your lab partners just rolled their eyes and ignored you, so you just refocused and started actually helping them?
All of those scenarios are examples of peer pressure that push students to rethink their choices and make better decisions. Now that students are removed from that social setting, I’ve really started to see how influential that pressure is in shaping the work students produce.
Zoom school really is the embodiment of “who are you when nobody is watching?”
