We interrupt your doomscrolling to bring you this: Mid-school Magic art that absolutely slaps
We'll start out with the white cards, and move through the colors as time goes on. #mtg

Blue
I'm really drawn to ones that can frame their subject with hard, geometric shapes in them. There sure was a lot of variance when art direction wasn't as firm. #mtg

Black
It was incredibly hard to pick just three cards, but these are incredible. Moreover than any color in Magic, Black can really play with the abstract. Having the presence of the moon in so many cards can give a great way to frame the subject, like in Unworthy Dead. #mtg

Red
This was a bit of a challenge, since a lot of Red cards are fairly straightforward. I imagine artists received descriptions that read like "This thing is on fire, hot hot hot. Make it red." and ran with it. However, it's great to see departures from realism. #mtg

Green
This was also an interesting challenge to take on. Art from this era had a strong connection to the natural world, so it's interesting to see more abstract takes on things. How much of this is actually happening in the woods, or is it our imagination? #mtg
