I’m highly undecided on tonight’s game. Panthers have played well, but I don’t think the Falcons are as bad as people think, and are better than their 1-6 record. So I feel like this game could go any direction.
DVOA says this game will be Panthers by a TD or better. Vegas says that if this game was played in ATL, Falcons would be favored. ATL passing attack is strong while CAR pass defense has been strong recently. Fascinating matchups.
So if this game is going to be close, then my golden rule on Thursday nights has always been: It’s a short week and preparation is magnified, so always go with the better coaching staff. In this matchup, I’m taking Rhule and the Panthers, -1.5.
I think Raheem Morris and staff are still figuring things out, and when they figure out how to manage a game and the clock appropriately, the Falcons will start winning. I think that starts next week.
Example of previous tweet: Falcons march down the field in a hurry but end up with a 4th and inches at the 3. Raheem runs the offense out to go for it. Calls timeout. Then kicks the football. Incorrect call and burned a TO to do so. Game management from the first snap is a skill.
Just gonna keep adding to this thread as we go. Falcons score a TD to make it 12-14 late in the 2nd quarter. Falcons kick the XP to make it 13-14.
