So, I have an idea for a public policy we can start implementing right away that would provide immediately for the financially insecure, provide soon for the hungry, and provide long term for the environment, and if this sounds like a good idea to you, @ someone to promote it 1/?
Provide people with a couple fruit tree seeds, a small planter, and a bare minimum daily wage required for providing specifically for that tree. For any new applicant, they would register, and receive an ID specifically for this program. 2/?
Daily wage would be very small, and only temporary. Like, just enough for clean water for the plant, soil the plant can grow in, things like that. Maybe enough for a small amount of food for the grower, we can discuss what would be the proper amount later in this thread 3/?
The ID could be as simple as laminated cardstock with their name, a photo, a barcode to scan them in so they can receive their wage, a date showing when they started, and what plant species. Any other specifics the ID might have can be discussed about later in this thread. 4/?
Now, it's obvious different trees would take different amounts of time to grow, and this is getting into why the daily pay would be temporary. A minimum amount of growth would have to be shown before they can "upgrade" to a larger, and more convenient, *weekly* wage. 5/?
In addition, certain points in the tree's growth would be "milestones", in which the grower is provided with a free planter of a larger size for them as a reward for reaching that milestone. Milestone growth points can be discussed later in this thread. 6/?
If someone's tree does not reach a certain point of growth by a set deadlines, they will be offered consultation as part of the policy. I'm not a botanist or anything, so anyone who is a botanist or thinks a botanist would be interested in determining growth points, @ them. 7/?
My ADHD is making it hard for me to remember all the details of this idea, so I'm going to release this thread to the wild so people can discuss it and add to it. It will probably help me remember too.
