sometimes I get annoyed bc people, even my friends, ridicule me for liking BTS and treat all the korean music I listen to the same (“oh iS tHaT bTs?” when I’m listening to a gg for instance) (1/5)

and it’s like what’s so wrong w me, a 20yo asian woman, liking music from an asian group that’s actually getting recognized. why can’t I consume media that has people that look like me. why is that so bad?

and the worst part it’s not even just my yt friends that do it. my poc friends ridicule me about it, if I play it on their speaker they’ll tell me to “quit playing that sh*t” on their things, but I don’t say anything if my Hispanic friends are playing spanish music

or anything because I get it?? it’s refreshing listening to music that sounds like you. and I’m not Korean by any means, but I’ve studied the language, and I actually speak Japanese and a little mandarin, so hearing something that sounds like me?

why is that such a crime? why can’t I have that? just because BTS and other groups give a damn about their appearance, just because they have fun colored hair, wear makeup, have choreography? idk. color me annoyed I guess.
