Favourite #Burnistoun sketches, a thread:
Ronnie Stokes and Barry Stokes. I really like the rhythmic, repetitive, deadpan dialogue, it's like some kind of comic poetry. Also the way we get a whole family story in non-chronological order.
Ronnie Dreech. I think what makes this really work is that he keeps the same steady voice and perfect rhyme scheme even as his song gets more disturbing and he sings about things that couldn't logically have been written in advance.
The first few Paul & Walter sketches felt too painful/disturbing to be funny anyway, but this one rides on the characters' weird beliefs and verbal tics anyway, and I like how all the different elements come together at the end anyway.
I'm not the biggest fan of bodily-function humour, but I love Rab's performance as Biscuity Boyle, and a character who's constantly putting himself down and a speed-dating event make a good match.
Some people find "list" comedy funny, some find it annoying, and I'm in the former category. Also the way Scott repeats the fritter advice but both times he says it like it's new information.
The middle of this sketch, were Iain's character can't control himself, gave me one of my biggest laughs of the series. I also enjoy "noodle incident" type humour, where we hear the set-ups for the (terrible) jokes but not the rest.
