The world is run by people making definitive statements when most of the time, truth lies in gray areas.
We rarely know the full story. It's often a judgment call; many of us free ourselves from accountability by outsourcing that judgment to self-described experts

The world works better when we think critically and make decisions for ourselves. The problem is that the average person is not accustomed to synthesizing information in pursuit of truth.

Perhaps we're not supposed to. Maybe this is just one of the downsides of capitalism—that few will be followed by many, and that most will end up with results based on the ideas of the few.
But I don't know if I'm willing to settle for that.
