Let’s talk about WHERE to host the submitted, accepted and published versions of your manuscripts! #SLPeeps #AcademicChatter #OpenScience 1/
Your journal article will ultimately have a DOI that directs people straight to the publisher's webpage for that article. However, you may also host free & legal versions of your research on preprint servers, university-based digital repositories, and/or on your own website. 2/
Preprint servers are online repositories where you can post papers that have not yet been peer-reviewed (aka the submitted version or preprints). They include servers such as @bioRxiv, @PsyArXiv, and @OSFramework. 3/
Many universities have their own online repositories where you can post preprints and postprints, as well as dissertations. These are typically managed through your university library, who can also offer guidance on publisher policies. 4/
And lastly, you have the option of posting to your own website. This option offers a lot of advantages: it’s usually the most permissive (publishers often allow posting to your own site, even if they restrict everything else), it acts as a central place for your work... 5/
...and there is continuity even if you change jobs/institutes.

As always, you can read more on our website ( http://www.csdisseminate.com/where-to-host ), and let us know if you have any questions! 6/6
