2 things @lily_kess pays attention to when considering an artist for a project: 1.) Sequentials 2.) Character studies. Very quick thread! #etchfest
Sequentials: how is the artist using panels to depict movement and action? Is there variation across pages? How is the artist using white space? #etchfest
Character studies: how does the artist portray a range of expressions? Are bodies diverse? #etchfest
For @litwitlow, the search often starts with the content of the project. AKA can this artist do people, animals, portray mystery, dark emotional tones, lush backgrounds...whatever feels central to the book. #etchfest
This is one of @litwitlow ‘s favorite parts of book process—finding someone who’s as excited by a manuscript as you are, and seeing the world you’ve been reading how they envision it for the first time. #etchfest
