Let’s talk about secure voting. Foreign actors are attempting to undermine our faith in the vote by amplifying disinfo around vote-by-mail and other processes. There’s lots of bad info out there, but you should be confident in your vote. (thread)
All states have had some form of mail-in voting for many years, but many have expanded eligibility to allow voters to cast a ballot from home b/c of the #coronavirus. This does not mean the election is vulnerable to manipulation, and cases of fraud are very rare.
And many states, with the help of DHS officials, have invested in their mail-in vote process to make it more efficient and secure in the face of higher volume than usual. 44 states and DC allow voters to track the status of their mail-in ballot online. https://news.ballotpedia.org/2020/10/28/44-states-allow-voters-to-check-the-status-of-their-ballot-online/
Be wary of election disinformation. DHS has assessed that Russia "is likely to continue amplifying criticisms of vote-by-mail and shifting voting processes amidst the COVID-19 pandemic to undermine public trust in the electoral process." https://www.axios.com/russia-trump-election-vote-by-mail-65954974-7a5d-40e4-a19b-313ba23f20ec.html
Because elections are administered at the state and local level, the best resource for accurate info is your local election official. Their websites lay out the process and deadlines for casting a ballot by any of the approved means. #TrustedInfo2020 https://www.nass.org/can-I-vote
Voters should verify any assertions about the voting process that they encounter on social media or elsewhere with information from their local election officials. https://www.usa.gov/election-office
