I've been using LinkedIn for the past ~8 months

here's a thread of what you can do to actually make LinkedIn usable, hate it less, and get great opportunities from it
1/ Don't connect with randoms

most people just accept everyone while some people just accept people they know

what worked best for me was connecting with people from the same industry, city, job, college, etc
2/ Change your connect button to follow

not only will this increase your followers, it would let you control your network and inbox messages even more

it's like a 2-step verification process if that makes sense
3/ Tweak your feed

if you're viewing your feed and you hate it, unfollow people that make it bad

you don't have to disconnect with them because they can lead you to your next opportunities

just unfollow them
4/ Accept the culture

LinkedIn is very different from Twitter

it's more professional, cringey at times, and yes, people actually post with A TON of line breaks

but if you don't have a huge Twitter network, it's still the best place to get career/business opportunities
5/ Create content

next to TikTok, LinkedIn is probably the only social media platform right now which has insane organic reach

your content could be viewed by 20,000 people even if you only have 100 connections/followers
6/ Engage with relevant people's content

if you want to get in a company, engage with the employees of that company

if you want to connect with a top business leader, engage with that leader's posts

make sure you leave the best and most valuable comment
7/ AMA

as a student, i was able to get 6,700+ followers with almost 600,000+ post views

i got an internship, 2 jobs, and numerous job offers because of LinkedIn

lmk if you have any questions
