Of the 18 in/following custody:

1 died in a police cell,
3 died at scene of arrest,
7 died in hospital after being taken ill when arrested,
6 died in hospital after becoming ill at the police station,
1 died in hospital after becoming ill in a police vehicle.
Of the 18 who died in/following police custody:

11 had mental health concerns,
14 had links with alcohol/drugs.

Of the 107 other deaths investigated:

54 had issues with alcohol/drugs,
75 suffered from mental health concerns.

2 out of 3 fatal shootings were terrorism related.
The statistics demonstrate overwhelmingly that police summoned medical assistance for suspects in their care when required.

Alcohol, drugs & MH were significant factors in majority of deaths.

Out of tens of thousands of firearms ops,suspects are unlikely to be killed by police.
