@BappenasRI @UnileverIDN
This discussion session was moderated by @SyahraniGita, which opened the discussion by explaining the work, vision, and mission of LTKL (Sustainable Districts Association).

#GLFBiodiversity
"LTKL is the backbone of the district in #Indonesia. There are 2 types of districts as our member; forest & commodity district. Our main commodities are coffee, cacao, & coconut. LTKL exists because the district wants a forum for regional competitiveness of sustainability." -Gita
"We launched our mission this year by the general assembly. Our mission is to achieve #Communature. The goal of Communature: Each district will be able to produce value-added products from a healthy ecosystem." -Gita

#GLFBiodiversity
For the main event, we have Florentinus Anum from #Sintang Government to share about the regional government's role in achieving the nature-based economy and sustainable environment goals.

#GLFBiodiversity
"Forest is the life itself for people. We rely on our lives solely in the forest. Not just for the present but for the next generation. And Indigenous people can manage the forest with the local wisdom of these communities." -Florentinus

#GLFBiodiversity
"In order to achieve the goal of sustainability, the government can't do it alone. It takes commitment and multi-stakeholder engagement to really establish a regulation that is inclusive and relevant to everyone." -Florentinus

#GLFBiodiversity
"We also need the support of research so that we able to analyze which policy best to achieve the sustainability goals. The support of capacity building for the society itself is also very important as well as the funding to support the program." -Florentinus
From the #community sectors, we have Musrahmad from #Siak sharing about the contribution done by the community which could boost the nature-based economy and achieving sustainable goals.

#GLFBiodiversity
"Siak has #peatlands as much as 57% of its land area, there are 49 thousand hectares. This peat has tremendous potential for us but has recently become a problem.
2015, there was a forest fire that created a lot of obstacles for us."-Musrahmad
"This ultimately encourages people in Siak from the private sector, NGOs, and communities to ask the government to be more concerned about forest fires and how to prevent them, so finally, a policy called #Siak Hijau was born." -Musrahmad

#GLFBiodiversity
"Our goal is only one. Namely realizing community welfare by protecting the environment. In Siak, we also see that the great potential we have is in the fisheries sector. One of them is snakehead fish. Because it's an endemic fish that can live in peat." -Musrahmad
"This snakehead fish can produce albumin. To be able to cultivate and produce good snakehead fish, the peat ecosystem must be wet and maintained. This means that by protecting the peat ecosystem, we will also produce good snakehead fish." -Musrahmad
"The progress we have so far, we already have a laboratory in Siak and the research process is ongoing. we provide guidance to prospective snakehead fish cultivator groups. There are 2 areas for our pilot project." -Musrahmad
#GLFBiodiversity
"I hope that more experts will come to Siak, to help explore the potential in Siak which is utilized for the welfare of the community, while maintaining the environment. Second, we also need partners to work together to open our horizons in acquiring new knowledge." -Musrahmad
"Finally, the role of investors is very important in encouraging various activities to be carried out. we have to remember that by 2030 we want 6 million hectares of forest to be preserved, 2 million hectares of good peat, and it can be utilized for the community." -Musrahmad
"And 1 million farmers prosper through processes that protect this environment, a big dream that requires a lot of hands and a lot of strength and a lot of enthusiasm. It took a lot of people to do this." -Musrahmad
