legal marriage confers legal protections that impact things like health care, adoption, immigration status, power of attorney, inheritance, and more. Religious marriage ceremonies can be a beautiful moving thing, and they have nothing to do with legal protections
Amy Coney Barrett has the power to hurt a lot of people in many many ways, and there are ways that clergy can show up for people in this moment, but you have to understand what the real material concerns are in order to do so
