Right now the CO house is 32 women, 35 men. CO lost its status as one of only 3 states in the nation earlier this year w/ the appt of Rep. Champion to replace Rep. Beckman. But on election night, we could re-instate a majority-women in the house AND senate for the 1st time.../1

There are 72 women running for 85 #coleg seats. Of those 72, 52 are Democrats (72%). Of those 52 Democratic women, 22 are Emerge Colorado graduates. That means Emerge represents 42% of all Dem women running for state leg seats and 31% of all women running total. #copolitics..../2

With this many women running, we could see up to about 40 women elected to the state house, and 18 women elected to the state senate. That would be the most women elected to our legislature in the state's history, and our first majority-women in the state senate! /3

More about the state senate: there are currently 12 women and 23 men serving. On election night, there are 7 seats that could flip from men to women legislators, with only 2 that could go from women to men. Out of the 13 women running for the state senate, 10 are Democrats #coleg

For racial diversity, there are currently 14 Latinx and 8 Black legislators at the capitol. All but one, Rep. Dave Williams, are Democrats. #copolitics #coleg.../4

But on election night we could lose up to six house seats currently represented by People of Color to white candidates. There are far fewer chances in the state senate, but it would be a huge hit for diverse representation... #copolitics #coleg.../5

However, we have closer to 3 chances in the senate and 2 in the house to elect People of Color to seats currently held by white legislators, which could help diversify our legislature further. Right now CO is about 30% People of Color, with 22% Legislators of Color at #coleg.../6

Overall, Coloradans have an amazing opportunity to see massive gains in women's representation at the capitol, as well as to increase the racial diversity of our legislature. Most of these gains would need to be made by electing Dems, so we will see! #coleg #copolitics
