Some job news… I’m available for a new one.

I was surprisingly “restructured” out of @inclusion_ca this week. I joined 2.5 years ago to professionalize, focus, and grow the 6 Degrees brand. I’m proud of doing that successfully during the hardest period of my personal life. 1/7

I led a great team that launched 6 Degrees hubs in Mexico City, Berlin, Calgary, and Montréal. We increased the audience from a few thousand people to hundreds of thousands, and from an event-only audience to one for weekly content across multiple platforms. 2/7

During my time, I cut program expenses by 15x my salary and (off the side of my desk) raised 10x my salary from grants and sponsorships. Backed that up with personal donations to the org as well. Feels good to have done that necessary work. 3/7

But COVIDtime is hard on charities, so despite these good works, I’m the next reduction. I leave proud of the impact I’ve had on the ICC and its mission, with many friends in the org, and without acrimony. My eyes are clear, my heart is strong; I’m ready for a new challenge. 4/7

I’ll be looking for a new project to put my abundant energy, network, and experience into. I do many things and have a long track record of success at transforming orgs (like the ICC, and The Walrus before that). I have a wealth of good working relationships across Canada. 5/7

But first…

I had planned to work for November from Barbados (I have family there, and Barbados is VERY strict with COVID protocols), so with this news, I will instead have a month of relaxation in Barbados. I'll do some zoom, but not all zoom. I leave on Sunday. 6/7
