1/n I just spoke to the CSU Board of Trustees and this is what I said and I STAND with our students and CSUEB faculty who stand for diversity, equity, and justice.

2/n I’m Dr. Pascale Guiton, an assistant professor in Biology. I’d like to know what the incoming president will do about the rampant discriminatory practices at CSU East Bay, which disproportionately hinder the success of our Black students and faculty.

3/n 53% of the faculty leave in their first 3 years, 5 times the rate of non-Blacks.
Yet, our campus honors faculty that dabble in pseudoscience and eugenics ideologies, like Emeritus Prof. Gregory Christainsen in Economics.

4/n Christainsen asserts in his work that people of sub-Saharan African descent, like me and many of our students, have significantly lower IQs than any other ethnicities.

5/n It’s appalling & scary to know that he & others like him, get to teach & evaluate Black students and Black faculty
It is why I urge the incoming president to prioritize & implement anti-racist policies & hiring practices to ensure a safe and equitable campus for our Black com
