When I first started at #CBC, my dream was foreign reporting. I've been very lucky. It has been nearly 22 years since my first international work trip. To Afghanistan. The first of 9 visits. Grateful to those who showed patience, helped me grow, supported me when I fell. 1/4
A year after Afghanistan (and a buzz cut from a soldier -- big mistake) came Iraq. What a fascinating, cultural rich nation that would soon experience horror. This is outside Saddam's Palace in Tikrit with the legendary Patrick Brown and videograoher Glen Kugelstadt 2/4
There have been 70+ countries since. Mali, Egypt, Philippines (including in a probably overloaded small plane!) and Haiti (my favourite). It has been such a privilege to learn from the world. There are some incredible @cbcnews journalists doing the same work now 3/4
Then there is our own country, with incredible vastness and diversity. I adore the Far North. So few of us ever make it there. Everyone is extraordinary. This has been a terrific job. Learning all the time. And sometimes wearing crazy outfits.4/4
