This is a really hard question for me to answer myself because I have been to and love so many bookstores across this great land.
I could make a case for Powell& #39;s in Portland because it literally has everything in it.
I could make a case for The Last Bookstore in LA because it& #39;s just a palace of books.
I could make a case for Myopic in Chicago because it& #39;s just wonderful.

To me it really comes down to two places. New York and Boston/Cambridge.
Harvard Book Store and the Brattle are such good places, and I can& #39;t visit either without buying something(s).

And there are so many good bookstores in Brooklyn that I love, from Books are Magic, to Greenlight, to Word to Center for Fiction.
But to me my all-time favorite is the Strand.

I& #39;ve been going there for like 2 decades, and so much of my collection was built on rainy days like today, wandering the stacks, picking up obscure and random things and good deals on used books.
