SHIVKHORI TEMPLE

KHORI means cave , It is believed that Shiva created this cave with his Trishul and took shelter when Bhasmaāsur tried to turn him into ashes.

This cave is in the shape of Shiva's Damrū that means wide at ends and narrow at middle .

Devi parvati's image can be seen in the left of shiva lingam by the impression of her feet &formation of cow like structure is visible above the lingam which is believed to be Kāmdhenu.

According to folklore,this cave leads up to the Amarnath Dham but devotees are allowed up to

130 meters only

Local people say that the sadhus who dared to go more than this , never returned and became a part of the temples mystery.

This 4 feet high Swayambhu Shiv lingam is situated in the Reasi district of Jammu.
