It’s really interesting how they turned Oshun, a fertility orisha, into a sex goddess

It really does make me think of the hyper sexualization of black women in the West, every day.

Fertility is attractive and being able to bear children is the biggest blessing Oshun and other water spirits can provide. Children is so desired that even other orishas like Sango are also known for fertility. Some of his statues even have him with breasts.

And this goes back to how the West views simple organs as sexual, rather than it just being sexuality.

And this makes me think about Sarah Baartman, and how she was exhibited in Europe up until her death. Literally hyper sexualized just for existing.
