Last year @Benton_Inst & @jonsallet set out recommendations 4 universal #broadband 4 "the 2020's." So much has changed in the wake of #COVID19 & our racial reckoning that the new report calls 4 "Broadband Now." Read here: https://www.benton.org/sites/default/files/BroadbandAmericaNow_0.pdf
The report couldn't be more timely. We need bold, national policies 2 ensure every American regardless of economic status, race or residence, has access 2 "high performance" #broadband @ affordable prices. It's necessary 2 work, learn, stay healthy & participate in democracy.
"We're not going back to broadband circa 2019. Every aspect of life is going to have a significant virtual component from here on." So true.
The report makes recommendations on how 2 make #broadband more affordable, deliver digital skills & jobs training, increase deployment of high performance networks, support tribal, state & local efforts, promote competition & improve access 2 & from community anchor institutions.
The @Benton_Inst report is a roadmap for universal #broadband access and I am proud to have been a part of it. #broadbandpolicynow
