Let me answer this, actually, because GALL of you to say it’s on US, one fandom, that people “see k-pop as a joke” and that we push this “BTS is deep” narrative. F*ck you. 1st of all, some of BTS’ biggest hits were fun, easy-going songs like BWL, Dynamite, DNA, Dope https://twitter.com/balencigyu/status/1321417052834451456
The fact that you have the gall to blame this on us when k-pop is considered a joke because of many things BUT its lack of “deep” music. The racism and ripping off cultures, for one. The lack of apologies for it. The fact that SM/YG/JYP created harsh conditions for their artists
and trainees, which you all are aware of aren’t changing. In fact, a lot of you love to joke about your faves “being locked up in the basement” and you think WE are trying to make k-pop a joke? Because we push a “BTS have deep music” narrative? BTS face stigma and stereotypes
in the west because of the conditions and environment which the k-pop industry has created themselves, all on their own. Starting with those dirty, trashy, greedy CEOs. Don’t blame us for fighting against the pre-conceived notions people have of BTS because of the shit industry.
Are people extremely racist and xenophobic towards Korean/Asian artists? YES. Nobody ever said they’re not. I also think that it’s f*cked up and xenophobic that westerners have this idea that ALL Korean artists are robots controlled by their labels but don’t blame this notion
solely on ONE fandom and don’t lie that we used this AI - SM thing as a way to boost our faves because we didn’t. Most of us simply said it’s messed up and not okay and that Lee Soo Man is the root of all evil in the k-pop industry, which he very well is!
Since we’re talking about xenophobia and racism, let’s discuss how a lot of you k-pop fandoms have been siding with racist westerners in their hate on BTS. How a lot of you LOVE to like the f*cked up tweets they write about BTS. How a lot of you have tried to shit on BTS’ careers
when they and their fans have dedicated so much time, effort, work, energy into fighting all the stereotypes in the industry and against k-pop artists. You hate the term “BTS paved the way” but you also want to put all of this on US and blame US on k-pop being taken as a joke —
so which is it?! Pick already.
