Election Day is less than a week away, and more than 2 million Ohioans have already voted.

We wanted to break down some races that would still make an impact on the criminal legal system at the state and local level. (thread)
1. You get to vote for your county sheriff, who makes decisions about how the jail is run, what sorts of programming a jail might have, whether or not to cooperate with ICE, and much more.
2. You can also vote for prosecutor, who makes decisions about who gets charged and how to charge people accused of crimes, which can affect the length and severity of sentences.
3. Common pleas court judges are also up for election. These are the judges who hear and decide cases at the county level. Juvenile court judges are also elected, and you can decide which judges will get on and stay on the bench.
4. Court of Appeals and Ohio Supreme Court judges look at lower courts in your community to make sure that they are making just decisions. These courts are important to keep lower courts accountable, and they create binding laws for other courts to follow through their rulings.
Election Day is Nov. 3, but you can vote early between now and Election Day at your county Board of Elections. You can find hours for early voting here: https://www.ohiosos.gov/elections/voters/current-voting-schedule/2020-schedule/

See you at the polls!
