Chennayin FC squad analysis-A thread:

Chennayin FC have retained thier core Indian squad and the heroics they displayed last season under Owen Coyle was epic! This season they have very similar layout of players but have more versatility on the sheet.

Csaba Laszlo is a kind of coach who prefers long balls and tries to exploit the strength and pace of his forwards. So looking at his primary approach to the game. Thapa, Chhangte and Esma are the players who totally suits his style. While Crivellaro will be kind of bonus to him.

Quickly coming to the roster: In the goal they have young Vishal Kaith, Samik Mitra and an experienced campaigner Karanjit Singh. Surely Vishal will start but Karanjit's experience is going to boost up his performance for sure. Having an experienced goalie like him is a great

thing for the team and the other Goalkeepers.

Defence: Eli Sabia has lot of xp of playing in India while in Enes Sipoviç he have a no nonsense CB with him. Looking at his gameplay style he sounds like a typical ISL defender. So less chances of him dissapointing Chennayin fans.

At the LB position they have Jerry and Chhuantea Fanai as thier first choice while at the Right they have Edwin and Reagan. Edwin is a gem considering that he can play both at the CDM and RB. Another Bonus for Csaba in the form of Edwin.. He gives freedom to him to choose the

combination whichever way he wants. If he wants Thapa and Edwin to start at the mid then Reagan can play at RB and if he chooses Germanpreet or Dhanpal Ganesh then he can easily shift to RB. Chennayin FC should keep him for long :D

Midfield: Crivellaro (CAM), Thapa (CM) Edwin,German, Dhanpal (all CDM) so lots of options for Csaba in the middle. Add to that Memo is also a new member of the team. He can play an emergency Centre Back and also a CDM. On paper he might not be on many's 11 but his xp is a boost!

Attack: Almost everyone is a new face. Jakub Sylvestr (ST), Fatkhullo (RW), Isma (ST, RW,LW) are the three Foreign attackers for Csaba, while Chhangte(LW) has emerged as one of the best Indian players last season. In the attack there are some interesting tweaks which we might see

Preferred starters at the attack should be Chhangte Jakub and Isma. Isma and Chhangte duo at the wings could be deadly and confusing for the teams at the same time. Both are pacy. We should be seeing a constant positional swaps from these two as both are comfortable at both wings

They can be used as inverted wingers from the flanks. While we saw Chhangte last year ripping it from the left, Isma is no less than him from there. He is deadly from the Right but even more deadly from the Left. He likes to do muscled runs down the wings.

Given that Esma can also play as a Striker, he is complete attacking package for the side. And looking at the style it looks like he has been handpicked by the man himself. Coming to the other options we have Fatkhullo Aman Chhetri and Thoi Singh as good options in the attack.

Strength: Experienced backups with great future prospects

Weakness: There is not any visible weakness in the team.

Preferred 11: Vishal (GK), Reagan, Enes, Eli, Jerry (DF), Thapa, Edwin (CM/CDM) Crivellaro (CAM), Chhangte, Jakub, Isma (front 3)

One thing which I would like to add. This team don't have any visible strengths or weaknesses. Which makes them more "dangerous" and "vulnerable" at the same time..
