What a workplace usually does is cover expenses for:
- Your workspace
- Materials in general
- Software
- Some random costs
- Possibly insurance
Imagine if you had to pay for everything you use at the office out of your own pocket. So their pay has to cover this.

A lot of countries have laws that mean the employer pay for the taxes for you, so what you get is the pay excluding taxes.
A lot of freelancers normally have to pay these on their own, so their pay has to cover this.

To calculate your pay (method 1):
1. What do you WANT to receive in income (at least minimum pay or starting pay)
2. Double it for material costs
3. Take that divided 0.x, where x is what you& #39;d have left after tax (the double minimum pay). (Make sure to keep updated on tax laws!)

OR (method 2):

2. Triple it to include above mention stuff. (Again, keep updated on laws.

How this works in practicality:
Method 1:
- Say you want 15€/hour after tax
- That& #39;s 30€/hour including materials (as these aren& #39;t provided by the commissioner)
- If income tax is 25%, 30€ is 75% or 0.75 of your pay including taxes. 30/0.75 is 40€
So you take 40€/hour.

How does this work with set prices?
How many hours would you put on these and are willing to put on them?
Say you average sketches in 1 hour and take 45€/hour. That& #39;s 45€ then.
Maybe a bust-up in colour takes 2.5h. That& #39;s either 135€ (rounding up to full hours) or 112.5€.

Sounds a lot? If you feel like you can& #39;t take this much, get better at what you do! But ask around as well. Is your art worth 15€/hour? Reasonable people would probably say yes. Especially fans. Listen to them. Take 15€/hour. You& #39;ve worked hard. You deserve the money.
If this is a lot, offer things that you can produce a lot of: prints, stickers, buttons, pins, t-shirts, bags, bookmarks or whatever else you can think of. These assume you& #39;ll receive the payment over time. These can cost 1€ or 15€ or whatever else is reasonable for the item.
