Now you can check the Pell Share at your alma mater, employer, current school, or pretty much any 4-year college that accepts federal financial aid. https://edreformnow.org/uncategorized/the-least-accessible-colleges-in-america/ https://twitter.com/James_S_Murphy/status/1316548235704623104
I did some more digging into the 2018 Pell Shares--like this list of the 10 worst public universities, where I learned that Virginia is the home of 4 of the worst public universities in the nation when it comes to access.
But really I'm hoping people will use the searchable and sortable table to see how the schools they're interested in are doing and whether they are making progress in enrolling low-income students. And call them out on Twitter for it.
I'm really hoping that people will share this thread and the link to the Pell list, so that we can get more advocates for change. Be like @chicagobulls legend @HARPER04_5, who called out Miami U for being the worst public in America on Pell. https://twitter.com/HARPER04_5/status/1321615527572393984?s=20
Wouldn't it be cool if @lenadunham called out her alma mater for being one of the 5 worst school in the US when it comes to enrolling low-income students? Or @TVietor08 @BlomquistRich @johngreen @PhizLair @AlisonBechdel @cp3 @MHarrisPerry @rebeccamakkai?
I'll call out my alma mater @FordhamNYC which is in the heart of the Bronx and is a *Catholic* university and yet allowed its Pell share to decline from 2011 to 2018. This is not acceptable.
