AC Sparta Prague and their probable lineup for tonight a thread:
The manager: Václav Kotal
A club legend. Played for Sparta for 9 years during the communist party era. Managed some of the best Czech teams before settling as Sparta's B team manager in the 3rd division.
After the departure of Václav Jílek just after the first post winter break match Kotal got the job until the end of the season but exceeded everyone's expectations winning the cup and finishing in the 3rd position losing just 1 of the last 12 matches
He modernized the team. Sparta is playing a high pressing fast build up game heavily relying on their wingbacks going forward and a CDM Ladislav Krejčí (can't play) for defense. They play in a Conte style 3412 But will have to play in a 433 formation tonight because of injuries.
The goalkeeper: Milan Heča
Benched Tătărușanu's Romanian teammate Florin Niță.
fantastic reflexes, great distribution and great at leading his defence.
Right Back: Michal Sáček
One of the engines of this team. He's preferably a centre midfielder but Kotal's choice of playing with fullbacks will probably make him play instead of Andreas Vindheim. He's not that quick but he's great with the ball and never gets tired.
Right Centre Back: Ondřej Čelůstka
a fairly new acquisition for the team from Letná. He's 31, played in the PL, Serie A, Bundesliga, and in the Turkish Süper Lig. He's the NT's starting centre back but he's really not aging well. He's coming of an injury aswell.
Left Centre Back: David Lischka
The Czech Musacchio
A man who Sparta had to wait a half a year for and damn it was not worth it. Lischka couldn't break into the starting 11 under Kotal and is one of the main reasons Sparta can't keep a clean sheet.
Left Back: Ladislav Krejčí
A man you might know well. He played for Mihajlovic' Bologna last year. He's a left winger but played as a left back in Bologna aswell. He's fast, good dribbler and a fantastic crosser. One to look out for for sure.
Centre Midfielder: Michal Trávník
One of Sparta's most expensive buys ever. He was fantastic for Jablonec 2 years ago scoring 10 with 10 assists but couldn't score a single goal in 40 matches since coming to Prague. He's small, not helping in the defence but very talented.
Centre Midfielder: David Pavelka
Came back from Kasimpasa a few months ago. His only match with the team was last week against Lille where he was one of the best players on the pitch even tho he had to play as a Centre Back. He's slow but very very smart.
Centre Attacking Midfielder: Bořek Dočkal
The Captain and absolute legend. Won the double in 2013. Leaded the team in their 2016/17 UEL Quarter Final run. His passing is world class - really one of the best in the world. He's not fast but can break the defence with a simple pass
Left Wing??? Lukáš Juliš
He's got everything a great striker needs. Fast, tall, clinical, good on the ball, can find the space. But his mental issues and low self-confidence really took him down in the recent years. Got his real chance with Kotal and is a great partner to Hložek
Right wing???
Adam Hložek
The one you have to know about. The special one. He's been absolutely sensational ever since his debut in 2018. I sometimes say Hložek is what Milan fans think Leao is. He's a perfect Ronaldo type of striker. He can do whatever. 4+4 in 6 this season...
Striker: Libor Kozák
Koza means goat in Czech and that's what he is. The 31 year old ex Lazio and Aston Villa player is a living meme. But damn he's a great footballer. His height and heading makes him undefendeable for most. Got benched by Juliš but scored 14 last season.
Keep in mind this is by no means the best Sparta can get. The league has been cancelled for almost a month here. They've got 3 injured centre backs and Ladislav Krejčí got a red card last week.
A fun fact: Sparta's got 2 players in their squad named Ladislav Krejčí. One of them is an ex Bologna player and the other one is one of their most important players a holding midfielder that got sent off last week against Lille.
