#California #Prop25 was tough for me, but I voted yes. As a domestic violence victim, I got temporary safety when my abuser was arrested and could not afford bail. Those days I was grateful for it. But other times when he was arrested, his control over me was so deep...
...he would convince me to pay a bail bondsman to get him out. I did this twice and was out thousands of dollars. He was never going to pay me back. He also didn't care that I would have to pay the full bail amount if he didn't show up to court...
...because he was too addicted to drugs. I can only imagine the many families of addicts who go through the same. They struggle with codependency and enabling like I did/still do. They pay money and put assets on the line to get their loved ones out...
...and risk getting hurt even worse. I guess for me, I ended up voting yes because cash bail made things worse for me. I am offering this as a different perspective in support of #YesonProp25
