We need to first understand how Nigeria was set up.

If it was set up to be a country, then leaders can treat citizens like a family of brothers and sisters;

But it was set up like a company.
Now you see why the CEOs (govt leaders) treat nigerians like slaves and menial workers.
“Nigeria” was set up as a complete business interest of the British Colonial Masters of the time which exerted their control as enabled through the powerful business consortium called the Royal Niger Company.

The Royal Niger Company essentially ran the country like a business.
As a business entity in the 19th century, the relationship between the colonial masters and the nigerian locals was one of a CEO and workers, a relationship between a slave master and slaves. Not one of a family of brothers and sisters.

You have to understand this very well.
This is why when workers had problems with colonial masters, dialogue wasn’t an option. It was force and guns.

Reason they killed Aba women in 1929 who protested high taxes and they massacred the Iva Valley Coal workers who wanted better work conditions.

Slaves don’t negotiate.
And this is exactly why after the British left, what did Nigerian leaders do? They learnt all the evil ways of the colonial masters and perfected it with a worse precision.

They ran Nigeria too like it’s private business. Made life hard for workers. And stole govt funds at will.
So when they say “national cake”,
Now you see where that horrible mentality comes from.

To our politicians,
Just like the colonial masters,
Nigeria is NOT a country. It is a business entity to be squeezed for funds and a proverbial cake to be eaten and shared by greedy gluttons.
And now you know why
Anytime nigerians come together to demand better living conditions, what does our govt (CEOs) do? They kill us. They shoot us.

They learnt it from the colonial masters. We are not humans to them. We are slaves. We are menial workers in their business entity.
Reason the police kills at will.
Reason politicians orders soldiers to kill protesters and kill us all at will.

Because police/soldiers are to protect NOT the people, but to protect the elites and their business interests (which is “Nigeria”).

Nigeria is just a company to them.
Reason they shot/killed >100 people in 1993 Democracy Protests. Reason they shot/killed many people in Lekki 20/10/2020.

Same reason.
The govt doesn’t see us as human beings. They don’t see Nigeria as a country of brothers and sisters.

They see us as slaves in their “company”.
By the way, Royal Niger Company was formed in 1879 as the United African Company and renamed National African Company 1881.

By 1929, the company became part of the United Africa Company which came under Unilever in the 1930s and continued to exist as part of Unilever until 1987.
Anyway that’s just a little history for you to think of this morning. We will be free one day- but not UNTIL we have a new set of politicians who can see Nigeria beyond the lens of a “company” with menial workers; but as a country and a family of brothers and sisters.

Thank you!
