1. The Government of Kenya "gave" my parents some money to "replace" my brother (pictured with my nephews). A THREAD, continued from the other thread, whose link I will attach at the bottom of this.
2. 13th June 2009, the Kenya police killed my brother. It was a violation of my brother's right to life, protected under the former constitution.
3. Today's his birthday. On this day in 2018, after about 9 years of back and forth in court processes, they delivered judgement. Yes, judgement was delivered on his birthday. Wait for it.
4. It was decided that the Kenya police were guilty, even though they NEVER showed up in court. They didn't care. They're used to getting away with these things, anyway.
5. What's infuriating is that:
1. The police got away with it. There's almost always, no consequence for their actions.
2. The courts offered Ksh 1million as compensation. Yes, you read that right.
3. My parents have never received it.
6. So you see, there's NO polite way of approaching this issue, so don't ask me to not cuss. I'm angry and will speak however I want. The police are rude and arrogant and did not think twice before pulling the trigger!
7. A life was violently, taken and we received a "f^ck you" on HIS BIRTHDAY that said, 'Oh yeah, I guess we were wrong to shoot and kill him. Please take this Ksh 1 million, which we will give you some day in the future. Or not. Who knows when or if it'll happen?'
8. I strongly feel that their decision to make this ruling on his birthday was intentional. The Kenya Judiciary and the Police believe that we're at their mercy on everything, so fuck y'all and your poverty and powerlessness, because, "Mtado?". That's their attitude!
9. My parents are old. You know you were wrong to give them 1M, but do you want them to die before they see SOME justice? The 1M is def a fucking insult! It doesn't cover the money paid to the lawyer from 2009 to date or take care of his fam.
10. You have ignored our plea in courts, in your offices, my thread, tweets and daily retweets. It's clear that Kenya is not for Kenyans, because this is just ONE case.
11. My family suffered this loss, maybe when yours suffers, you will understand. Until then, enjoy the warmth of your beautifully furnished houses and offices. Blood from a fresh shooting is also warm.
12. End of thread. See below, a link to the other thread and all the people I have been tagging. #StopPoliceBrutality #StopPoliceBrutalityKe #StopExtrajudicialKilling #EndPoliceBrutality #PoliceBrutality
