Watching the huge impact of the public support and advocacy on #RepealtheSeal, I can't help thinking about how much that support is needed for another group - survivors of sexual abuse in schools, denied their legal entitlement to redress for 7 years since Louise O'Keeffe's case.
Successive Governments have stonewalled these survivors because public reaction was fleeting and the knew they could get away with it. If the public reaction changes, the Govt will change its approach, as we saw this week (to the credit of all involved).
Here's what I wrote in July 2019. Since that decision in our favour, nothing has been done to revise and re-open the scheme. Survivors still have no idea if or when their rights will be vindicated.
