Taiwan, closest neighbouring country to Wuhan, free of local transmission for 200 days with growing economy in 2020, thanks to

- world class test & trace averaging 20-30 contacts per case
- central distribution of masks & compliance
- border control https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/record-200-days-with-no-local-cases-makes-taiwan-envy-of-world">https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east...
All of which is underpinned, both in terms of governmental readiness and citizen willingness to wear masks/ do tracing, by the experience of Sars in 2003 in which Taiwan suffered 668 cases, and 181 fatalities
Taiwan has a population of 24 million, so significant (ie 5x NZ, and just under two fifths UK) and is one of the most densely populated in world, eg significantly more than UK (652/sqkm vs 280/sqkm)
