For nine years I have been the victim of this man whose public image is one completely at odds with his personality. He was spoken to the police on more than one occasion for assaults on me & was finally cautioned for common assault when he attacked me in the bathroom of our home

There is a lot of shame attached to being a victim of domestic abuse so I do not reveal these details lightly. But don’t think that their bullying and abuse ends the day you leave them. We divorced after a few weeks of marriage when he slept with one of his fans (again).

Yet his abuse continues to this day because we have a child together. Today in emails re our child contact I have been called ‘selfish’ ‘pathetic’ ‘childish’ despite there being a court order that he must not verbally abuse me in emails or texts.

It is time we named and shamed our abusers. But instead, we have other women doing their bidding for them and sending screengrab of our tweets. Like Mark says himself, there are others ‘keeping tabs on me’. Nice.

When we have children we ‘manage’ these people for the sake of peaceful exchanges for our kids. But when we do that, we’re only allowing the abuse to go underground. I am completely sick of these men. I am tired of them getting away with their crimes.

Sorry if this thread makes you feel uncomfortable to read — it is uncomfortable to write, or indeed live through — but if women continue to be silent about abuse then we are simply colluding with the perpetrators of it. Organisations like @_DAVSS_ supported me & can help you too
