Also as an anime fan when I was a teenager, who wouldn& #39;t shut up about my faves, how great they were and who would buy merch and use it at school and all that jazz.... Yeah, I was never bullied because of it. It& #39;s only those acting weird thinking being a "weeaboo" is a good thing
Of course I can& #39;t speak for everyone but let me tell you, I was in 5 different schools, in two of them I would even be the only one who watched anime, and in none of the schools I went was I bullied for liking anime.
If you go around speaking broken japanese, doing the nico Nico ni dance and running like naruto unironically, wearing naked anime girls merch and thinking being a "weeaboo or otaku" (not even in Japan is that seen as cool) was a quirky personality trait then yeah, that was when.
I& #39;m not gonna condone it, it& #39;s shitty yeah, bullying is never excusable, but people who "liked anime" weren& #39;t bullied because of that, they were bullied for being, honestly, really annoying, cringe and kinda creepy
Because people who watched and passionately enjoyed anime unashamedly weren& #39;t bullied, maybe cause they weren& #39;t being cringe and creepy about hentai and wearing fully or half-naked anime girls merch at school, speaking japanese words they don& #39;t even know how to use
Like.... When will people realise it& #39;s completely different liking anime to a big extent than being a creep about it, telling girls how hot they& #39;d look if they dressed like Lucy Heartfilia or whatever hot anime girl at the moment and not being respectful about a whole culture
Being an "Otaku" or a "weeaboo" is not cool, is not a quirky personality trait, it& #39;s not even an "I& #39;m gonna go to Japan and I& #39;ll have friends there" because not even in Japan is any of what they are doing seen as cool
Anyways might delete this thread later but ugh it& #39;s so annoying. TL;DR the bullying wasn& #39;t because you liked anime, it was because you were an annoying creepy perv.
